Course objectives
- Know how to apply basic indicators related to trends in rural tourism.
- Identify and apply changes in the behavior of a modern tourist consumer in order to create a marketing strategy

- Assess how the particular sociology problem of tourism fits into a particular micro / macro sociological explanation and the marketing impacts that result from it.
- Judge and know how to apply basic indicators related to trends in rural tourism.
- Self-evaluate theoretical knowledge from microsociology / psychology in the interpretation of the motivation of tourists coming to rural areas.
- Apply knowledge from sociology of tourism for choosing an entrepreneurial strategy.
Course content
Anthropological and sociological basics and aspects of tourism. Introduction to general and rural sociology. Sociology, tourism and rural tourism: approaches, areas of interpretation and research. Sociology of leisure time - Historical development and concepts. Tourist motivation. Tourist needs. Social role of tourists. Value system and rural tourism. The term diode and typology. Family and agricultural family. Research on social phenomena in the village. Problems of rural communities, family farms and rural areas today. Deagrarianization. Social relationships in a village. Village and the phenomenon of globalization, transition and modernization. Features of modern rural tourism destinations. Authenticity and heritage. "Consumer culture". Social context of rural tourism: analytical elements of research. Methodological approaches.
