Course objectives

The objective of the course is to familiarize students with basic semiconductor concepts, which then enable the adoption of the properties and principles of the core elements of semiconductor technology such as diode, bipolar, coupler and field effect transistors. Following the adoption of the aforementioned, theoretical and practical implementation of the said electronic elements will be implemented in the basic circuits which are now an indispensable part of almost all electronic devices.

Course outcomes

  • Explain the role, origin and basic properties of semiconductors.
  • Analyze and explain the basic structure, parameters and modes of the diode, bipolar transistors and field effect transistors.
  • Explain and analyze the function of simple circuits with basic electronic elements.
  • Interpret technical specifications of basic electronic elements.
  • Describe and analyze the properties and operation of basic circuits with diodes, transistor amplifiers and field transistor amplifiers.
  • Explain the concept of amplifier frequency characteristics.
  • Analyze and measure the frequency response of the amplifier.
  • Describe and analyze the properties and mode of operation of the amplifier and simple circuits.
  • Describe and analyze the properties and mode of operation of the core active filter assemblies.
  • Describe the fundamental properties and principles of the work of the electronic oscillators.
