Course objectives
Students need to get an overview of the basic characteristics and properties of technical system which aren’t directly related to ICT technologies. E.g.:
- Heating and cooling systems
- Supervisory security systems (video, motion detection sensors, auto-alert…)
- Systems for recording employee attendance (finger prints, RFID card readers, etc.)
- Remote data sensing systems
- Systems for distribution of water, electricity, gas…
All this systems could be important to his/her employment, in the case if there is need for him/her applicatively integrate him/herself into those systems or some of their parts
Course outcomes
- To analyze the general role of technical systems in business.
- To analyze the electricity distribution system
- To analyze the water supply system and drainage system
- To analyze and recognize the basic elements of a telecommunication system.
- To make a diagram of a basic security system.
- To make a diagram of a basic system for recording employee attendance.
- To identify the basic elements of system when on ‘’the field’’
Course content
General concept of system. Basic characteristics of modern technical systems. Maintenance of technical systems. High level of availability and reliability as one of the primary requirements for technical systems. Lifetime of the system. Examples of modern information technology as support for information systems for maintenance and management systems.
