Course objectives

  1. Students will be able to understand and distinguish basic concepts in the area of information technology and to understand the rough principles of how a computer functions.
  2. Students will be able to independently use the computer for office-based business in a typical business environment.
  3. Students will master the most important software tools for formatting and processing text, spreadsheets, communication and presentations.

  • Being able to describe and understand the basic concepts of ICT
  • Understand the basic principles of ICT work and application
  • Understand and be able to comment on the reasons and the need to use ICT in business
  • Understand and be able to set up a personal computer for everyday use and to know how to protect its data content from viruses and external intrusion

  • Produce self-generated professional presentation documents in MS Word and PowerPoint and present them.
  • Use advanced Word and PowerPoint functions in various professional, educational and personal situations.
  • Take control of your own mailbox, create and systematize the address book and calendar using MS Outlook

  • Create and manage table-based calculations for different middle difficulty business needs
  • Understanding and using functions

  • Analyze and present data using charts
 

Course content

Development of digital computers, concepts and architecture. Code schema. Computer parts. Use of personal computers - settings, protection and maintenance. Programs and programming - concepts and programming languages. Software - types and purposes. Application software - types and purposes. Open source software. Internet and the web. Information society / economy. Types and Purpose of Office Software Tools (package). Processing and editing text documents. Presentations. Electronic mail and communication. Spreadsheets: term, concept and purpose. Basic use of PT. Advanced use of PT.
