Course objectives
- Give an overview of fundamental concept from the field of culture, multiculturalism, interculturalism, and intercultural communication.
- Give an overview of the influence of cultural differences, culture of a society and national culture on the management function, management processes and on business on a global level.

Course content
Determining the notion of culture. Relationship and interdependence between culture and tourism. Tourism, cultural heritage and cultural-civilization heritage. Culture and cultural diversity. Multiculturalism and cultural diversity in the world, the European Union and Croatia. Building intercultural relations in multicultural societies. The immanentity of interculturalism in tourism. Intercultural dimension of tourism. Intercultural sensitivity as a prerequisite for acquiring intercultural competence. Dimensions, elements, components and levels of intercultural competence. Models of acquisition of intercultural competence. Intercultural competence of staff in tourism. The characteristics of an intercultural competent tourism worker. Intercultural competence as a part of tourism culture.
