Course objectives
Introduce the student with the concept of an information system and using a modeling tool for already existing systems or systems that need to be designed such as SDL and UML.
Course outcomes
- Describe an information system
- Make decomposition of larger systems
- Specify the system using the SDL specification language
- Visualize message exchange between communication entities using the MSC specification language
- Apply the methods of unified modeling to different business activities
Course content
System analysis and design: team work, testing, planning and evaluation, maintenance, site design, internet information systems. Designing information systems using SDL language. Designing IT systems using MSC languages. Design of IT systems using unified modeling software; Designing connections between IT system participants. Introduction to UML: basic unified modeling techniques; applying the unified modeling method to different business activities (functions and procedures); creating business models by unified modeling techniques; Designing the function of individual IT system participants (screens and printed forms); Database design. Data protection. Authority access to the database.
