Course objectives
Understand and explain in business English the basic concepts related to the topics listed in the course contents; understand and interpret a variety of authentic Anglo-American texts with topics from the mentioned areas; to convey the meaning of some Croatian structures and terminology from the specified ICT domains to the business English language in a suitable and grammatically correct form.
Course outcomes
- Creating awareness of the meaning of business English in modern computer technologies
- Overview and adoption of basic ICT terminology in business English
- Successful interpretation and use of Anglo-American conversational models in accordance with the aforementioned ICT topics
- Practicing and appropriately and grammatically accurately expressing the basic linguistic functions (offering / claiming, comparing, ascertaining, arguing, cause and effect, suggesting, conditioning, etc.) in the business English language
- Critical judgment and linking of general knowledge about ICT technologies in Croatia with selected content in business English
- Preparedness for independent basic communication in English in the field of ICT technology
Course content
General themes will include web technologies, programming languages, the Internet, telecommunication basics, innovation, business communication, accounting, and marketing. Students will read and interpret authentic English language specialized textbooks and aim to learn the vocabulary related to the general themes.
