Course objectives
- Give an overview of the problems and constraints of small entrepreneurship in the economic structure of a particular national economy
- Clarify the prerequisites for successful operations and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Croatia (specificity of cost management, inventory, human resources and business risks)
- Master the skills necessary to assess the economic viability of investment in a small business
- To awaken opportunities for more successful entrepreneurship development in the Republic of Croatia
Course outcomes
- Defining the basic concepts and functions of managing small and medium enterprises,
- Distinguish economic and social prerequisites for business performance and development of small and medium-sized enterprises,
- Identify ways of launching new entrepreneurial endeavors and specificity of managing cost, inventory, human resources and business risk in a small and medium sized businesses.
- Explain and critically evaluate the project cycle, as well as the project's performance criteria, all with the aim of making legitimate business decisions and implementing a business plan.
- Create a business plan
- Make the basic parts of the application for the development project and present it to an audience of experts
Course content
Importance of entrepreneurial ventures in the market economy. Launching entrepreneurial ventures and strategies for entering entrepreneurial activities and business development. Economic and social prerequisites for the success of an entrepreneurial venture: functional and institutional conditionality, entrepreneurial infrastructure of institutions. Starting new jobs: opportunities and constraints, financing small and medium-sized enterprises, planning, procurement and inventory management, risk and insurance management. Entrepreneurial management: innovation, tradition, weakness of material, financial and human resources, business plan, market segmentation, entrepreneurship in managers, decision making process, definition of vision, mission and strategy for small and medium enterprises.
