Course objectives
- Distinguish the basic concepts of cyclotourism.
- Compare the offer and demand for cyclotourism in a particular destination.
- Assess the role of the state in the development of cyclotourism.
- Assess the potential for cyclotourism development in the destination.

Course content
Sports recreation in tourism. Sports-recreational tourism: concept, content, needs and opportunities. Terminological definition of cyclotourism. Bicycle infrastructure: bicycle track on the roadway, bicycle path separated from the roadway, bicycle road, bicycle route, bicycle route or direction. Typology of cycling. Different segments and characteristics of recreational cyclists and cyclotourists. Bicycle destination: criteria for successful development. The size and value of cyclotourism at the international level: selected countries. Developmental potential of cyclotourism: economic, social, ecological. Analysis of cyclotourism market in the Republic of Croatia. Cycloturism and Main Stake in the Republic of Croatia. Conditions for cyclotourism development in the Republic of Croatia. Bicycle routes in order to increase the competitiveness of the Croatian tourism product. Offer and demand for cyclotourism in the environment. Experiences of other countries. Analysis of examples of successful cyclotourism in the Republic of Croatia.
