Course objectives

Develop competencies such as the ability to understand and use the modern German language in speech and writing in basic, everyday communication.

Course outcomes

Name of the learning outcomes set:  General second foreign language and grammar structures in the second foreign language of the profession 1 Level: 6
  • Use proper personal pronouns (distinguishing between formal and informal contexts)
  • Know the vocabulary related to numbers, quantities, prices, chronological time
  • Know the vocabulary related to the profession, workplace and education
  • Use present and past tenses, and modal verbs correctly
Name of the learning outcomes set:  Business correspondence and oral business communication in the second foreign language 1 Level: 6
  • Properly introduce yourself in a formal context and be able to present another person, e.g. a colleague
  • Arrange a meeting with a friend or colleague from a business / business partner in an oral and written form (short e-mail or SMS)
  • Using time phrase, briefly tell your everyday life, including a working day or a day at the faculty
  • Order a drink or a meal in a restaurant using the appropriate vocabulary and phrases
Name of the learning outcomes set:  Listening and reading in business communication in the second foreign language 1 Level: 6
  • Know the numbers, understand how many hours there are and what day / date is in short clips, for example radio news
  • Understand the prices
  • Extract the necessary information from newspapers, posters, or brochures
  • Understand the text of various questionnaires for the purpose of filling them properly (e.g. visa form, application form at the hotel)
  • Understand how to get somewhere (by foot or by public transport)
  • Determine whether the text-related claims are correct or incorrect based on the read text

Course content

Introduce yourself and others; Occupations (vocabulary); personal pronouns; Sitting or resting at the workplace (reading, conversation); Numbers and date; Times; Appointment agreement (listening, speaking); Present, My working day (reading, speaking); At the hotel (writing); Excuse me, how do I get to…? (Speak); Food and drink (vocabulary, speech); Modal verbs; Write SMS and e-mail; past tense.
