Course objectives
- understand and explain in the English language the basic concepts related to the topics listed in the course contents;
- Understand and interpret a variety of authentic Anglo-American texts with topics from these areas;
- To convey the meaning of some Croatian structures and terminology from the specified economic domains to the business English language in a suitable and grammatically correct form.
Course outcomes
- Creating awareness of the meaning of business English in modern management and entrepreneurship;
- Review and adoption of basic entrepreneurship terminology in the English language;
- Successful interpretation and use of Anglo-American Conversational Models in accordance with the above-mentioned entrepreneurship themes;
- Practicing and appropriately and grammatically accurately expressing the basic language functions (offering / claiming, comparing, ascertaining, arguing, causing and consequent, proposing, conditioning, etc.) in the business English language;
- Critical judgment and linking of general knowledge about management and entrepreneurship in Croatia with selected content in the business English language;
- Preparedness for individual, basic entrepreneurship communication in English, with respect to Croatian national specialties within modern management and entrepreneurship.
Course content
The 4th semester will cover areas of marketing, trade, finance, human resources management and business in different cultures. Students will continue to read and interpret non-speculative texts in the business English language and aim to learn the vocabulary related to the framework themes.
