Course objectives

  • Argue the opinion on the key concepts of rural tourism.
  • Analyze and compare the current development of agro tourism in the Republic of Croatia.
  • Assess the stimulating and limiting factors of agro tourism development in the Republic of Croatia.
  • Assess the role and importance of institutional support in the development of agro touristic entrepreneurship.

  • Distinguish and argue the opinion on the concepts of rural tourism, village tourism and agro tourism.
  • Identify basic terminological concepts and characteristics of agro tourism.
  • Compare the phenomena of agro tourism.
  • Critically evaluate the importance and specificities of agricultural production in organizing tourist activities in rural areas.
  • Analyze and compare the current development of agro-tourism in the statistical regions of Croatia.
  • Identify the status and role of agro tourism for local (rural) community development based on the analysis of economic and non-economic impacts.

  • Assess the role and importance of institutional support in the development of entrepreneurship in agro tourism
 

Course content

Terminological division of key concepts in rural tourism. Terminological definition of the concept of agro tourism. The assumptions and factors of the development of agro tourism: the attractiveness of the location, the arrangement of the tourist peasant family economy, the attractiveness of the offer, educational and promotional assumptions etc. Significance and specificity of agricultural production as an attractive factor in the organization of rural tourism activities... Agro touristic destination. Profile of the agro-tourism consumer. Classification of agro touristic forms of rural tourism. Designing tourism supply based on characteristics of agricultural production sustainable tourism: theory and practice. Economic and non-economic effects of agro tourism. Agro tourism in Croatia (comparative analysis by statistical regions) Institutional framework (special reference to legal regulation). Limiting factors of agro touristic development. Tendency of agro tourism development in the continental region and in the wider area of the Republic of Croatia.
