At Virovitica University of Applied Sciences on December 6, 2023, Rudi Grula, the director of the Međimurje County Tourist Board, delivered a highly engaging guest lecture titled “Međimurje County as an Example of Sustainable Tourism Destination Development.” Addressing students of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Rural Tourism Management and Destination Management, Mr. Grula shared his extensive experiences in sustainable development and tourism management within the Međimurje County.
The fact that our northernmost county received the silver award as a “Green Destination” for the year 2023, placing it among the most successful global sustainable tourism destinations, speaks volumes about the valuable insights our students gained firsthand on successful management strategies for developing tourist destinations on the continent.
