On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at our University, Ivana Jurković, MA in Education specialized in Philology in English and German, a senior lecturer from the University of Applied Sciences in Bjelovar, conducted a guest lecture on the topic “Present Perfect in Technical English.” The lecture, held as part of the Computer English Language 1 course, was attended by first-year students of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, along with their subject lecturer, Maja Resner.
Following the introductory presentation, students attempted a challenging task using Chat GPT, a large language model based on artificial intelligence. This provided them with insights into the advantages and disadvantages of this digital tool and convinced them that creative solutions require personal knowledge and creative thinking. This showcased the optimal utilization of modern technology as an aid for swift task resolution rather than as a replacement for individual creativity and writing skills.
