On May 3, 2023, second-year Management students specializing in Small and Medium Enterprise Management and Destination Management visited Organica Vita, a small ecological agricultural company, as part of their fieldwork for the Management Systems courses. Accompanied by Professor Danijela Vakanjac, Mag. oec., the purpose of the fieldwork was to introduce students to quality management systems and the need for integration of each system.
During the visit, the owner, Maja Lazić, gave a presentation on the establishment and history of Organica Vita. The students also toured two halls where the processing of medicinal herbs takes place, as well as machines for filling and packaging organic products. Maja explained the procedures and requirements that small organic food producers must meet to obtain and maintain necessary certifications. She also highlighted the quality control process in various stages of production and processing, ensuring the establishment, implementation, and sustainability of all necessary quality management processes.
The students discussed the possibility of innovating business processes, emphasizing the necessary procedures, opportunities, and challenges that small entrepreneurs face. They also had the opportunity to taste branded products produced by organic and ecological production.
Overall, the students’ feedback was positive and interesting, highlighting the importance of linking theoretical knowledge with practical application.
This field trip was organized by the Virovitica University of Applied Sciences.
