Course objectives

  • Identify and describe the environmental impact on the organization and review and select an adequate strategy,
  • Analyze the aspects of entrepreneurship in the global economy and review the strategies of performance on the international market and comment on different forms of cooperation when entering the international market
  • To distinguish the small business sector's specificities with respect to large enterprises
  • To identify the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises in the economy
  • To compare different approaches to the growth of small and medium enterprises and to classify their advantages and disadvantages

  • Analyze different forms of financial resources for financing business activities in a company

Course content

Small and medium company: definition, economic significance, economic power, weakness, financial opportunities, limits and risks. Place and role of small and medium enterprises in the entrepreneurial economy. Establishment of small and medium enterprises. Possible strategies for entering entrepreneurial activities. Strategic determinants of development. Small and medium sized enterprises in the economic structure of the Republic of Croatia. Economic and social prerequisites for the performance of small and medium-sized businesses: functional and institutional conditionality. Opportunities and constraints, SMC financing, planning, procurement and inventory management, risk management and insurance. Entrepreneurial management: innovation, tradition, weakness of material, financial and human resources, business plan, market segmentation, entrepreneurship in managers, decision making process, definition of vision, mission and strategy for small and medium enterprises. Full quality management. The organization that learns. Interpersonal relationships: employee motivation, human resource management, entrepreneur as leader, salary policy. Social responsibility of entrepreneurs.
