Course objectives
- Introduce students with basic concepts in communication, with emphasis on business communication
- To familiarize students with the basic administrative-business style of the Croatian standard language and to develop the possibility of integrating language knowledge into everyday business

- Explain basic concepts in communication
- Explain the prerequisites, the importance and the characteristics of the communication act
- Describe the process of creating and developing a form of communication
- Identify communication factors, forms and types of communication

- Write a business letter, a resume and an application
- Plan a business meeting and know how to make the necessary documentation
- Manage interpersonal relationships (conflict, teamwork, negotiation)

- Apply knowledge gained by language training in writing letters, requests and offers • Identify the most common language errors using normative language manuals
Course content
Communication. Business communication. Administrative-business style. Business letter. Forms of business letters. Applications and resumes. Shaping the offer. Presentation. Interview. Ads. Language culture and standard language. Normative manuals. Spelling standard of Croatian standard language (voices, large and small first letter, composed and uncomposed writing, and writing of words from foreign languages, shortening of words, spelling). Grammatical standard (sound changes).
