Course objectives
Acquiring knowledge of the basics of state organization and the legal system of the Republic of Croatia. Understanding the ability to launch your own business entity and how they function and how someone can enter into a legally binding relationship. Acquiring knowledge of the fundamental features of labor law.
Course outcomes
Name of the learning outcomes set: The fundamentals of law (the fundamentals of state organization and legal system)

- Determine the importance and types of legal rules and the scope of the legal system.
- Assess the social relations between legal entities that the state governs with legal rules
- Identify types of legal acts and their characteristics.
- Compare the scope of work of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities in the Republic of Croatia and the institutions of the European Union

- Identify sources of trade status law
- Establish the legal personality of trading companies, the characteristics of the company, the subsidiaries, the headquarters, the company, the subjects of the business of companies, the representation of companies
- Establish and describe the process (actions) related to the establishment of companies, the internal organization of companies and the termination of the existence of companies
- Distinguish and compare individual companies of capital and companies of persons.

- Determine sources of commercial contract law
- Establish the prerequisites for the validity of the contract, legal and business ability, place and time of contract conclusion, contracts for strengthening the contract

- Identify the subjects, sources and principles of the labor law, the fundamental obligations and the rights from employment.
- Establish valid legal rules of labor law for the purpose of protecting the rights of the worker and the employer.
- Identify the characteristics of establishing and terminating the employment relationship.
- Establish and formulate a labor contract based on the applicable legal regulations and autonomous acts of the employer.
- Identify the characteristics of individual work relation, participation of workers in decision making and collective labor relations.
- Establish legal rules, content and manner of keeping records of workers and working hours of workers.
- Establish valid working safety rules.
Course content
Generally about the concept and function of the state and the legal system. Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. The State government structure in the Republic of Croatia; three branches: legislative, executive, judicial power. The role and significance of the function of the President of the Republic of Croatia. The organization, role and importance of local and regional self-government in the Republic of Croatia. Elections and electoral systems in the Republic of Croatia.
A merchant, a trading company, a craftsman and an individual trader. Pre society. Branch office. Company. The headquarters of the company. Subject of business of the company. Representation of a company. Court Register. Public company. Command society. Joint Stock Company. A limited liability company. Economic interest association. Partnership.
Obligatory relationships. Legal and business ability. Types of obligations. Enhancement of the legal relationship. Concept of contract. Prerequisites for conclusion of the contract. Termination of obligations.
Purchase, replacement, loan, , rent, lease, buying, work, construction, remnants, storage, order, commercial representation, brokerage, commission agreement, tourism contract, shipment, bank contracts, partnership contracts.Terminology and assumptions of noncontractual relations.
