Course objectives

  • Obtaining knowledge of the European law system and its influence on national legislation as well the processes of European integrations.

Course outcomes

  • Identify knowledge of terminology and concepts of European law.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the international system and the process of European integration.
  • Develop practical knowledge of EU law in terms of contracts, state practices and decisions of international organizations and conferences.
  • Present the decision-making process within the EU institutions.
  • Develop competences for independent analysis of correspondence between domestic (Croatian) and European laws.
 

Course content

History of European integration and EU expansion. Sources of EU law. EU fundamental principles. EU institutions. European court. Previous procedure before the EU Court. Influence of EU law in the domestic law of member states. Internal market of EU. European citizenship. Protection of fundamental rights in the EU. Right of the Council of Europe and the European court of human rights.
