Course objectives

  • Introduce students with general communication skills, business correspondence and business etiquette
  • To develop awareness of the concept of multidisciplinary approach to the guest and to learn to valorize each guest based on business multiculturalism and characteristic cultural practices
 

Course outcomes

  • Present general communication skills.
  • Apply the legality of oral and written communication in accordance with the Croatian standard language.

  • Integrate business etiquette in a communication with a guest and establish the multiculturality of the guest.
  • Apply standards and norms of good and efficient business behavior.

  • Apply standards and norms of good and effective multicultural behavior in hosting guests.
  • Organize work with guests (reception, accommodation, hospitality and attention, taking care of the needs and habits of guests).

Introduction to communication. Communication. Forms of communication. Verbal and nonverbal communication. Communication process. Communication and culture. Communicating in the World of Differences. Business etiquette (principles and rules of business behavior). Business communication 2.0. Business letters. Business protocol. Business dress. Business multiculturalism. Characteristic cultural customs in some countries. Caring for the guest.
