Course objectives
- Explain the characteristics, significance, potentials and risks of applying Internet technology to tourism.
- Familiarize the students with the basic technological elements, principles and business requirements of electronic business.
- Through active analysis, presentation and discussion of practical cases (through seminar lessons), students learn the critical approach to the application of Internet technology in tourism.
Course outcomes
- Explain the importance, potentials and risks of applying Internet technology to business
- Evaluate and define requirements for the application of Internet technology in a specific tourism business.
- Understand what the characteristics of a good web solution or web application are and what it takes to achieve this.
- Efficiently (professionally) communicate with designers or designers during the definition and development of e-business or web projects.
- Understand the risks and know what security measures are required in electronic business.
Course content
Explanation of basic concepts: e-business, e-commerce, e-business. Information society, information economy - potentials and risks. EU recommendations and initiatives related to EP. Information economy, EP and tourism - connectivity, potentials and risks. Basic concepts of Internet technology. Internet services - types, characteristics and significance. The Web as the dominant Internet service - web pages and web applications. Typical shapes (models) of EP and their characteristics. Defining user / project requirements and web usability. Payment systems. Security certificates and protection EP. CRM.
