Course objectives
To achieve that the students learn and understand the underlying concepts, principles and architecture of information systems. Through practical lessons (exercises and independent projects), the student learns elementary methods of graphical information system specifications.
Course outcomes
- Properly define basic concepts related to systems in general, understand the theoretical concept of the system and its connection to the business system
- Define and comment on the concept of business processes and their importance for information systems
- Comment on BIS development methods
- Understand / comment on and create a specification of business activities / processes and their streams of data using multiple graphical methods: DTP, IDEF, UML / DA, ARIS, BPMN
- Describe and comment on the role and tasks of BIS in the company
- Describe and explain the structure and parts / elements of the BIS
- Define and comment on BIS's strategic planning and its connectivity with strategic business planning
Course content
Introduction to the course basic Concepts: data, information, system, knowledge, continuous changes, and innovative characteristics of IS. System - basic concepts: system concept, environment, input / output, system management, system types. Application of system theory: system approach, system analysis, modeling. Methods of graphic specification in development and analysis of IS. The term and concept of information system. Information system architecture. Company as a business system. Concept of business processes, improvement and transformation of PP. BIS business and entrepreneurial tasks - linking and synchronizing goals. BIS subsystems - ERP Systems. BIS management - life cycle, methods. BIS management and management. Advanced application of IT .Security of an IS.
