Course objectives

Prepare students to become managers by acquiring basic knowledge of what management is, what their jobs and tasks are, how they should be performed and how the environment affects where management operates.

Course content

The definition of management: concept of management, management process, management levels. Theory of management: structural theory, behavioral theory, modern theory. Contemporary management: intercultural management, international management, business and management ethics, corporate social Responsibility. Management environment: external environment, internal environment, organization and environment relationship. Planning: process and planning levels, planning methods, methods and approaches to planning. Strategic management: fundamental approaches to the sources of competitive advantage, strategic analysis of the external and internal environment, formulating strategies at the corporate, business and functional level. Organizing: principles of departmentalization, classical and contemporary organizational design. Organizational culture: the importance of organizational culture, indicators and types of organizational culture. Leadership: leadership theories, relationship management and leadership. Human resources management: anticipating needs for human potentials, employing human resources, monitoring and development. Control: control purpose, control process, types of control.
