A formal session of the Council of Polytechnics of the Republic of Croatia took place in Šibenik. The session was attended by deans from 32 Croatian polytechnics, which collectively enroll approximately 25,000 students. One of the notable highlights was the rectification of a longstanding injustice towards polytechnic students regarding their academic titles. The deans emphasized the ongoing importance of prioritizing the quality and reform of study programs.
“Since last year, when we gathered at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, significant changes have taken place for polytechnics and professional studies. We are all well aware that we now have two new laws: one pertaining to higher education and scientific activities, and the other focused on ensuring quality in higher education and science. Let’s be completely honest, both laws have brought forth numerous positive outcomes and advancements for polytechnics,” stated Damir Jugo, President of the Council of Polytechnics of the Republic of Croatia.
Addressing the audience, Ivica Šušak, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science and Education, acknowledged the unwavering determination and success in achieving equal treatment between professional and university studies.
